Support a sporting legacy

Got any old sporting equipment that doesn’t get used? Organisers of the Sutton Coldfield Community Games have teamed up with sponsors Green & Co estate agents to help find a home for it – and support the sporting legacy of the Games.
From bats to balls, shuttlecocks to skipping ropes, local people are being asked to drop off any unwanted sports equipment at their local Green & Co branch any time before mid-July.
All the equipment collected will be redistributed to local causes to help encourage and deliver greater participation in sport - including The ReUsers, located next to Sutton Coldfield Household Recycling Centre, and Sport Birmingham, harnessing the power of sport and physical activity to improve lives across the city.
The legacy campaign is all part of run up to the Sutton Coldfield Community Games, a two-day event designed to get people playing sport. More than 65 sports are now signed up to the free event, which runs on 11th and 12th July at Wyndley Leisure Centre.
Chris Green, director of Green & Co, said: “We are extremely proud to be able to sponsor the Sutton Coldfield Community Games and after the success of last years’ event, we wanted to go one step further to help support the sporting legacy.
“I’m sure there are many local families with old equipment collecting dust in the cupboard and this campaign will give people the chance to offer it to a good cause, using our network of sales and lettings branches across Sutton Coldfield and the surrounding areas.
“We’ve already had a number of donations promised from customers because, of course, there is no better time to declutter than when you are moving house!”
Collection boxes are now in place at Green & Co branches in Sutton Coldfield, Boldmere, Four Oaks, Walmley, Great Barr, Erdington and Castle Bromwich. Simply pop in to drop off your unwanted sports equipment or go to the homepage to find your nearest branch.
