Take advantage of Christmas browsers
Thu 17 Nov 2016
More people search for new homes online between Christmas and New Year than any other time of the year – so now is the time to get your property listed on the market and take advantage of peak website traffic.
We're encouraging people to think ahead if they looking to move home in 2017. Last year, Rightmove had almost 31 million page views on Boxing Day and 44 million on December 30 – representing its busiest ever period.
Paul Ivens, director at Green & Company, said: “Maybe it’s because so many people get new tablets and iPads for Christmas or maybe it’s because they’re off work over the festive season, but whatever the reason there is no doubt more people are browsing online property portals between Christmas and New Year than any other time.
“Traditionally people would wait until the New Year to instruct an estate agent and get their property listed for sale at the start of a new year, but these figures show you can’t afford to do that anymore. You could be missing out on potential buyers if you don’t get your details listed in time for the busy Christmas period.
“We’re not saying you have to open up your house for viewings in the run-up to Christmas if you don’t want to. We know it’s a busy time for lots of households, so often we’ll get the property details agreed in November or early December, ready to go online at the last minute for people to view from Boxing Day.
“It’s an important period for the property market and with a completely new look which is already starting to turn heads across our network of sales and lettings offices, all eyes will be on Green & Company more than anyone else this December. Contact your local branch now for a free valuation.”
