Selling a home in the digital age
Mon 03 Aug 2015
There is no doubt that the internet has changed the way people buy homes – just like it has changed the way we buy many things.
If you’re looking to sell your property, make sure your estate agent of choice has the right platforms and approach to take advantage of this shift. Because if they don’t, you could be missing out on potential buyers.
Here are five ways Green & Co can help you sell your home in the digital age:
Picking the right portals
Green & Co lists all properties for sale or rent on Rightmove, Zoopla and PrimeLocation, which we believe gives the best possible chance of being seen online by browsers (as long as it doesn’t sell immediately of course). When you consider that 85 per cent of all our enquiries from potential buyers last year came from either Rightmove or Zoopla, there is no better place to be listed.
Be mobile ready
More people browse the internet on mobile and tablet devices than on desktop or laptop computers, which is why we have made sure our website is fully responsive for mobile devices. If your chosen agent’s website is not mobile ready, your buyers could be turning off before they’ve even seen your listing.
Portals like Rightmove and Zoopla offer a wealth of data to estate agents including comprehensive analysis on who is viewing your listing, what else they have viewed and whether they came back to view it later. Amazingly, many agents still do not share this information with vendors or use it to improve your chances of finding the right buyer.
We’re a social bunch
Our Facebook and Twitter pages are not awash with properties for sale, but instead we have tried to reflect our position in the heart of the local community by creating a page for local people, with local news, events and things to do. This has enabled us to build a community of local people who could all be potential buyers of your home today or in the future, and we also give tips, hints and advice for those selling their home.
You’ve got email
Too many estate agents still send out mass emails to thousands of addresses with no regard for what their buyers are looking for. As a vendor there is nothing more frustrating – why would anybody be interested in your home if it’s out their budget, in the wrong area or doesn’t have the garage they need? Our dedicated Customer Relationship Team take the time to build individual email campaigns which are specifically targeted only to relevant buyers based on specified criteria.
