Why Claire's running 100 miles for charity
Tue 10 Oct 2017
Claire Wax, senior manager at the Tamworth office of Green & Company, is going the extra mile in support of charity as she aims to run 100 miles in October, all in aid of Acorns Children’s Hospice.
Claire has taken on the challenge and will personally pledge £1 for every mile she runs. If she achieves her target, the sum will also be matched by Green & Company, as well as a friend in her local village of Whittington. All money raised will be donated to Acorns, offering a network of care for life limited and life threatened babies, children and young people and their families, across the heart of England.
In the last year, Acorns has supported over 865 children and more than 1,088 families, including those who are bereaved. Acorns relies on the community to fund the almost £10 million it costs to provide the charity's services.
Claire said: “I only started running in November last year so I’ve never done anything like this before, I’m really looking forward to putting myself to the test. After the first week of October I’m already well on the way towards 100 miles and if I stay injury free I’m confident of reaching that target.
“I’m used to supporting people through difficult house sales or purchases at work so I’m just hoping someone will support me through the dark, wet October evenings! I’m incredibly grateful to Green & Company and all of my friends and family who have backed me so far – now it’s up to me to run the rest of the 100 miles!”
