We have had another busy week with the level of enquires received. Rightmove reported that "44% of new listings that came up for sale in the first month after the English market opened on 13th May have already been marked as sale agreed" and the "number of sales agreed is up 15% in England on last year, and in the five days after the stamp duty announcement it jumped to 35% up on the same day a year ago".

Positive news but if you are looking to buy but you haven't spoken to anyone about your mortgage, we recommend that you do as soon as possible. Most lenders are offering some attractive deals, but it can take time to secure finance from them. As previously said the changes to stamp duty had been received positively, but most buyers will need to have found a property to buy by the end of this year to ensure that they complete contracts before the end of March 2021.
